Project overview
This Mesa Verde homeowner had a detached single garage with an aging light-blue door. The paint was chalky, the windows had fogged, and the bottom seal had worn away. Mice and leaves were getting in, and the door rattled on its old steel rollers every time it opened.
We replaced it with a black insulated steel door with a carriage-house design, a row of window lites and decorative hardware. The dark color makes it stand out against the white siding and trim.
Client requirements
The owner wanted a door that looked custom without the price or upkeep of real wood, and one quiet enough to use early in the morning.
- Carriage-house look in a low-maintenance material
- Better seal against pests and leaves
- Quieter operation for early mornings
- Install finished in a single day
Our solutions
We measured the opening, checked headroom and recommended an insulated steel carriage door with new hardware.
1. Insulated door:
Polyurethane-insulated steel door with a carriage design and window lites.
2. New springs:
Torsion springs sized to the new door weight for perfect balance.
3. Quiet hardware:
Sealed-bearing nylon rollers and new tracks for smooth, quiet travel.
4. Full seal:
New bottom rubber and perimeter weather stripping to keep pests out.
Result & client feedback
The door was installed in one day. The garage now stays clean and dry, and the owner says it is quiet enough to open without waking anyone. Interested in something similar? Read about our garage door installation service.
"It looks like a custom wood door, but we never have to refinish it. The crew was in and out in a day and cleaned up everything."
