Project overview
During a remodel, this Eastside family turned the room over their two-car garage into a home office. The old chain-drive openers shook the floor every time a door moved, and one of them had begun reversing at random.
We installed two belt-drive openers with battery backup and Wi-Fi, new safety sensors and matching wall consoles. We also tuned both doors so the new openers would run smoothly.
Client requirements
The goal was quiet, reliable doors that the family could check from their phones while away from home.
- Much quieter openers under the new office
- Battery backup for power outages
- Smartphone control and alerts
- One wall console per door
Our solutions
Before installing the openers, we balanced both doors so the new units would not be overworked.
1. Belt-drive units:
Two quiet belt-drive openers with battery backup to meet California law.
2. Smart control:
Wi-Fi set up and linked to both owners' phones, with open/close alerts.
3. Door tune-up:
Springs adjusted and rollers lubricated so the doors are light and balanced.
4. Safety sensors:
New photo eyes and wall consoles wired neatly in conduit.
Result & client feedback
Noise in the office above dropped dramatically, and the random reversing stopped. The owners now get a phone alert if a door is left open. Interested in something similar? Read about our opener repair & installation service.
"I can take calls upstairs while the garage door opens. It used to sound like a train."
